What do your car rental charges include?
Unlimited mileage, insurance for collision (CDW), theft (TPC), local, government & airport taxes if applicable, airport premium location fees if applicable, 24 hour breakdown recovery, road fund licence, one-way fees if booked as a one-way hire and VAT.
What do your car rental charges not include?
Insurance damage excess (£250-£600 refundable deposit swipe on your credit/debit card paid on collection of rental vehicle), full fuel tank purchase, baby/child seats, additional drivers, young driver fees (under 25 only) out of hours surcharge if applicable, home/office delivery & collection if applicable, London congestion charges if applicable.
Can I buy a cheaper annual or daily insurance excess
policy?
Yes, we do offer an alternative that can be used all over Europe. An annual policy
is only £49.00 or a daily policy is only £4.50. This can often pay
for itself in one trip.

You can purchase extra insurance on the day of rental from
the car rental desk, average cost are £5.50 GBP* per
day, £10.00 GBP* per day if less than seven days. This
reduces your excess liability to £100.00 GBP.

Additional driver charges
Additional driver fee is £7.49 inc VAT per day, per driver, with a maximum charge capped at £74.99 per driver, per rental Inc VAT.
Baby seats/child seats charges
Baby seats 0 -9 months / Infant seats 9 months –
48 months / Booster seats 4yrs – 7 yrs all charged at
£5.50 GBP per day per seat (capped at £35.00).
Young Drivers Surcharges
23-24 yrs = £10.50 GBP per day
Some rental companies may not charge extra, please ask at
time of rental.
What documentation do I need when
picking up my car rental?
You MUST bring:
- A valid, current, full driving licence (and paper counterpart
for UK new photo licences) for each intended driver
- Driving licence that must be valid for driving in the
UK
- Photo ID for each intended driver e.g. Passport or
Photo Driving Licence
- A valid credit or debit card for security and damage/fuel
deposit (£250-£600 payment by credit/debit
card on collection of rental car)
Driving Licence: All drivers must produce
both parts (if applicable) of their full, valid British /
EU / international driving licence which must have been held
for at least 12 months.
International and non UK residents driving licences
are widely accepted. It is the driver's responsibility to
ensure that they have the appropriate driving licence for
use in the UK.
The fourmotion.com reservations department must be advised
of you have any current endorsements at the time of booking,
when booking on-line there is a form to fill in if you have
any endorsements you need to notify us of,
failure to notify us could result in refusal of the car to
the hirer. Please be advised that no refunds will be given
for rentals rejected due to non-production of a valid driving
licence. Photocopied or faxed licences cannot be accepted,
the car rental office can contact the DVLA if you are a UK
resident and have lost or forgotten your driving licence,
this can be performed Monday - Friday 08.30 - 20.30 Saturday
08.30 - 17.30 only.
Rentals
All rentals are subject to standard rental company terms and
conditions of the rental agreement, as signed at the time
of vehicle pick-up. Once you have signed the rental agreement,
the agreement is then between you and the car rental supplier
in the country of collection.
All rentals are calculated on a 24 hour basis from time of
pick-up. To avoid additional charges, You must return the
vehicle on the agreed return date stated on the rental agreement.
Failure to return the vehicle on the agreed date will result
in additional charges.
Additional charges will be charged at the local rate, normally
higher than the prepaid rates, these must be paid locally.
Extensions to the rental period must be notified to the rental
company and Fourmotion, this is for insurance purposes. Failure
to do so will leave you uninsured.
In line with car rental companies in the EU, our suppliers
may require you to compulsory pre
purchase a tank of fuel when hiring for five days or more,
this is charged at cheaper rates than regular pump prices,
normally 5-9 pence per litre cheaper.
This makes it much easier for customers hiring vehicles as
you do not need to refill the fuel tank when returning the
hire vehicle, if you are asked to pre purchase fuel, it is
in your best interest to return the vehicle as empty as possible.
All terms and conditions of the rental location from where
you collect your vehicle must be followed. It is in your interest
to read and understand these terms before signing the rental
agreement, if you do not understand, please ask a member of
staff to help you.
European Driving
We can arrange extra insurance cover for continental use
and breakdown recovery for driving outside of mainland UK.
The charge is £115.00 Inc VAT for the duration of your
trip. Overseas driving packs include warning triangles, spare
bulb kit, and special insurance/breakdown recovery for overseas
use. Pre booking is required for this service, if you need
a overseas driving pack, please indicate dates of travel
and destination country/countries on the booking form*
*Sports Cars, Prestige Cars, Commercial Vans, and 12 seater
minibuses are NOT allowed off mainland UK, all other vehicle
types are OK to use overseas. Please contact
us if
you are unsure.
Vehicle types
Fourmotion.com cannot guarantee a particular make or model of vehicle. The vehicles illustrated within this website or on your voucher/booking form are for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative, similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost). We will, however, try and accommodate any request for specific vehicles you ask for. If you have booked a Sports or Prestige car, the vehicle you have booked will be requested but not 100% guaranteed.
Upgrades
From time to time, rental companies may need to upgrade your
vehicle, this should be free of charge unless you have agreed
to pay for an upgrade locally. Fourmotion cannot be held responsible
for upgrades that do not comply with your original request.
Most upgrades are welcomed by our clients.
Booking changes
Unforeseen circumstances may make it necessary for changes
to be made to your booking (after acceptance); we reserve
the right to do so. This may either be an upgrade, downgrade,
price adjustment or one way fee. In all instances you will
be advised as soon as possible before the date of hire.
Mechanical Difficulties or Accidents
In the case of breakdown or mechanical problems you must call
the car rental company immediately. The car rental company
must give authority for repairs or a replacement vehicle .If
you are involved in an accident, the local police and car
rental company MUST be contacted. Please keep a copy
of all relevant documents you are asked to complete. These
may be needed if you wish to make an insurance claim.
Rates
Fourmotion’s rates are not to be discounted, rates can
vary on occasions. If there has been an increase or decrease
from the listed price, this will be confirmed at time of booking.
The supplied voucher is only valid for the named driver(s)
and booking date at the collection location (as printed on
the voucher). No refunds can be made on on pre payments, un-used
rental days or for cancelled bookings with less than 72 hours
notice. Fourmotion’s reservations department MUST be
informed of all cancellations to avoid any charges to yourself
(email
us or telephone +44 (0) 870 432 57 57).
Any voucher supplied by Fourmotion is only for the charges
listed, all other charges that may be applied or incurred
must be paid for locally on pick-up of your vehicle.
Congestion charge
Congestion charging in London England, and other cities in
the UK has now become common practice. Please take the advice
from the renting location, and observe signs etc. when entering
a congestion charging area. You are responsible for paying
such charges, not the rental company. Fourmotion will not
be held responsible for failure of payment for these charges/fines.
Liability
Fourmotion act as an agent for the car rental companies and
a contract will be taken with the car rental company supplying
the vehicle. Clients will then be subject to the terms and
conditions of the contract, and the laws of the country where
the rental takes place. Fourmotion accepts no responsibility
for, and shall not be liable in respect of any loss; damage;
alterations; delays or changes arising from civil unrest;
industrial dispute; including air traffic control disputes;
terrorist activity; natural and nuclear disaster; fire or
adverse weather conditions; unavoidable technical problems
with transport; closure or congestion of airports or ports;
cancellation of scheduled airlines and financial failure of
airlines. If it is decided that we have any liability to you,
for any loss or damage which you may suffer (other than personal
injury resulting from the non-performance or improper performance
of the services involved in the vehicle rental), that liability
shall be limited to two times the price of the vehicle rental.
Fourmotion will not be held responsible for any loss, damage,
injury, or delay by the car rental company which results in
failure to honour any reservation.
Complaints
Fourmotion is dedicated to customer support and loyalty. To
assist with any complaint, Fourmotion endeavours to resolve
any issue within 28 days of written receipt of complaint.
Data Protection
We will only use the information that we collect
about you in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998
The type of information we will collect about you includes:
- your name
- address
- phone number or numbers
- email address or addresses
- credit or debit card details, including card numbers,
start and expiry dates
By booking with Fourmotion on our secure server, email system,
or telephone you are agreeing to have the above details held
on our database.
The personal information we hold about you will be held securely
in accordance with the data protection act 1998.
By entering our web site or sites, and inputting your personal
details including your email address, you agree that we may
send you promotional mailings, when we send such email we
clearly provide a remove email link, if you choose to use
this link, we will not send you any emails or promotional
literature unless you request us to do so.
We do not sell or forward your email address, your home address,
or telephone numbers to anyone or company. We may have to
share some of your details with other parties or agents to
make bookings on your behalf, this is performed in accordance
with the data protection act 1998.
